Mini Moto Bike
The mini moto bike is a scaled down version of Super Bikes used by racers. Most generally, they are equipped with a two stroke or engine cooled by water. They are able to hit speeds up to 60 mph.
The two stroke engine allows for more horse power than an engine that has four strokes. Essentially the engine that has two strokes has three parts which are the piston, crank and rod. The piston is similar to a valve that opens and closes the intake ports which are on the side of the cylinder. On a two stroke engine, the piston fires every time which differs from a four stroke engine which fires every other time.
The two stroke engine generates more power and there is no engine idle when stopped at lights or signs. The two stroke engine is louder and has more power than a four stroke.
The two stroke engine runs on a mixture of oil and gas. The purpose of this is to keep the engine lubricated so that it is running smoothly. This is important because most of the time starting problems are because of fuel problems. This can be due to bad fuel or improperly mixed fuel. There is a specific ratio to follow when mixing gas and oil. It is recommended that you do not use fuels that have alcohol which can damage the engine. It is recommended that you use high quality oil and gas.
If the engine is not properly and continuously lubricated, this can cause the engine to freeze. If there is two much oil or gas in the mixture this can cause choking or sputtering. If the bike appears to be running badly and is giving off a lot of smoke, then most likely there is a problem. If you have the desired power and acceleration, than the mixture is correct.
A moto bike needs to be broken in by slowly and assuring the first three to four tanks of fuel are added correctly. A mixture ratio of 25 to 1 is recommended. Which is 25 parts gas to one part oil. During the breaking in period, it is not recommended that you rev the engine, by pushing it to the maximum as this can cause engine damage.
During this breaking in period, the gears and pistons and clutch and brakes will slowly become lubricated and will ease themselves into place. After you have used about three to four tanks of fuel, check the chains, tires and make sure all the bolts are tight. The throttle setting can be set higher after the moto has been broken in. The fuel mixture should then be changed to 50 to 1.
If you have never owned a mini moto bike, make sure you educate your self on the maintenance care of it. Although, it has a relatively small engine, it will not take much to damage it. Before you purchase it, you may want to obtain some books, obtain information on the internet, or speak extensively with a dealer who can provide you with operating instructions and maintenance tips.
